J&K Power Development Department Hacked
In the first cyberattack in Jammu & Kashmir, hackers on Friday wiped out essential data from the servers of the State Power Development Department. Chief Engineer Aijaz Ahmad said the department has urged men and machinery into service to restore the data and systems. J&K Power Development Department Hacked.
Officials of the department have filed a complaint in this regard with the police’s cybercrime cell. The department has suspended its billing and other operations as the officials believe the complete restoration of data would take around 10 days.
It has initiated an internal enquiry and officials said after discovering the cyber-attack, all the network data lines were closed so that the hackers stopped from accessing further data to expand their attack to other areas. “Four of our servers have been compromised, which we are unable to access,” an official said. It is reported that 24 servers are closed from 101 servers.
And The Maharashtra Police has also reported increased cyber attacks from China, with over 40,000 hacking attempts by hackers based in Chengdu region in the past week. However, officials are yet to confirm the source of the attack in Kashmir as the investigations are still on.
